Rúben Dias is a portuguese composer, photographer and researcher whose work explores the relationship between music and photography. He completed his master's degree in Composition at ESMAE (Porto) with the research project titled "Ser-se nuvem: para uma relação entre música e fotografia", supervised by Rui Penha.

He was selected for the Composition Workshop for Voice and Orquestra, mentored by James MacMillan, which will result in a commission to be performed by the Gulbenkian Orchestra in July 2026. He was also selected for the third edition of the Contemporary Opera Creation Laboratory of Inestética. He was a research fellow in the Synth - Sintetizador Espacial project, where he premiered "Production [...]" for piano, E-Bows, and live electronics at Teatro Helena Sá e Costa in Porto.

As a performer, he frequently participates in concerts as an improviser, particularly of electronic music. He co-founded the group RUMOR with fellow composers to create and perform contemporary music. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Music Teaching, specialization in Composition, at ESML with Luís Tinoco.

He studied with Carlos Azevedo, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, and Ângela da Ponte at ESMAE.
